Meet Kerris
Kerris is 4 year old yellow Lab and a staff member of the Kitsap County Prosecutors Office. She is not a police dog but she does have special training. Her job is to put people at ease and provide a calming presence which is especially important when working with child victims of trauma.
Kerris spends a good deal of her time at the S.A.I.V.S. office. She will sit side by side with a child victim during the forensic interview, is present at “child hearsay†court proceedings, and if a case does go to trial, Kerris can be with the child victim throughout their testimony.
